We carry out trials wherever potatoes are grown in Manitoba in order to give the best chance of the desired pest being present. We also source or produce inocula as called for by protocol.
We work with growers and grower consultants around the province to find the right soil for your trial, including soils deficient in various nutrients.
We conduct fresh market, French fry, and chip variety trials for various breeding organizations and for grower organizations. We also have screening nurseries to test resistance against disease and insects.
Since becoming part of the Techmark Inc Approved Lab Program (TALP) in 2020, Gaia Consulting now offers potato sugar analysis and fry quality testing. Pre-harvest and storage samples are submitted either by dropping off at our lab in Newton MB or at our drop-off shed at Smart Electric in Carberry. For an additional fee, samples can be picked up at individual farms. Through integrating our lab services into the Techmark T-Solutions online data portal, we provide a program that allows the grower to evaluate storage and field samples for process quality and make storage management decisions based on this valuable data. Growers can receive reports by email, but also log into their password protected accounts to view reports of their most recent as well as historical sample data. Images of the fried samples are accessible with the reports. Key quality metrics such as % defect, stem end, hollow heart and others are indicated on the reports. A PDF copy of sample reports is generated and automatically sent to email accounts designated by the user.
If you are interested in arranging testing, contact us at info@gaiaconsulting.mb.ca.
In addition, the FryPro Consulting program is available through Techmark Inc: More information about this program can be found at https://www.techmark-inc.com/ or by contacting them directly.
